5 months at UCA

Five Months at UCA passed too fast. I arrived one day in April (I think it was the 23th of April when I arrived) I stayed in Birmingham for nearly 5 months, and then moved to Cheltenham, and then to Bishop's Cleeve just for a month before I returned to Peru.

Sorry John, I won't be there

I met John because of Apple while I was in UCA.
A very talkative nice man, who looked after me while I was in Uk. I just would like to cry right now.. 'cause I can't be with him. He looked after me while my time in England, he took me to the Friend's House in London for my birthday. He was like another father to me....and now I'm loosing him.
I pray for you..
missing you

Wonderful people

What can I say?, mmmm.... I met so wonderful people at
UCA. One of my best friends is Apple. I met her in UCA. She was always happy and busy, but she was always there to talk. I used to bother her... and now that I'm quite far from UK, she's still the same person I met and I continue bothering her now through the msn. (nothing changes..he,he,he) Perhaps next time I visit her I'll prepare some pasta..ha,ha,ha I know how she loves it!!!!ha,ha,ha,ha!!!!
Marjo, a lovely friend. Finnish..Now working with the church in Botswana. I remember there's a trip to Liverpool and we stood up in the middle of a bridge which was prohibited to do (I really don't know why... perhaps it was because of the crowd there)..but we didn't care... we just took a picture. It was the perfect place to take a picture!!!!
Marjo, Apple and I did other trips together.. Ian and Diana took as to Cambridge, and Sam and Pete to Gloucestershire.
Cecil & Jun. A couple from the Philipines.. Jun is a good cook!! Ohh, you must try one of his meals. They were as if they came from Peru too.. quite strange.. isn't it?. Cecil was a great support to me. I could talk anything with her and she will have always some advice to me. MERESIANA, the tall lady from Fiji who picked me up from Digbeth Coach Station when I first arrived to B'ham. Meresiana used to cook her own meals almost every weekend. When I first met her, I couldn't talk with her... maybe... because of her serious face. (was she angry?? I asked myself the first day).... but after some months at UCA I met how funny and lovely person she was to me. NOBUTAKA.... (The pic on your left) Nobutaka was always doing jokes... never paid a single entrance to the symphony hall and almost everynight we stayed in the library and talk there(where the internet was). Marlene, I loved how she played the flute. She formed a chorus with people of UCA. She took us to two churches to sing...the truth?, I don't know what I was doing there... but I did enjoy it. (do you remember the International evening??.) RUTH PADLEY... running from here to there... she was always busy...but, I's always bothering her with my ideas...ha,ha,ha... poor Ruth, all what she had to put up with... MYO... uhh.. how he missed his country and family!!!. Myo came from Myanmar, Burma and was like a big brother to me. We both arrived at UCA nearly at the same time and both studied English Language at Elm Field House. One sunny day, we were in the English course.. and when we finished we realized that it's raining really hard!!!. It's so funny!!!. That day we didn't carry none umbrella, neither coats... so we walked under the heavy rain.. and I think it was hailing too- (He was so angry!)
I can go on writing the endless list of friends I met there...
Val: an excellent minister and friend. Michael: (the one of the picture on your right) always serious but when I said something silly, he'd a big smile on his face. Emmanuel Jacob, a great tutor as well as Chad G. Anastasia, always happy and going out... she was the friend who received me and Amy in her place in St.Petersburg (Anastasia and me at St.Petersburg Station -pic on your left-). Ian & Diana were giving me support even when I was in Cheltenham. (we're still in contact)ohh... Diana has a lovely voice...Paul from India and Paul from China, Joan, Eileen, Ruth T., Irene Liu (how I envy the way she played the piano!!!!). BRIAN M. a so funny friend. Save from Fiji. My dear friend and minister Paw Liang The from Indonesia, Beatrice Gill from Belize a great minister too. Pete and Sam Taylor, The Moffot Family (I learnt some language sign from Sheila, like "tree", "good morning"....), David from India, Benhur (a funny friend too)..Kirsteen and her lovely daughter, Colin, Hiroki Shinkai (from Japan), Georgina from Germany (I remember the day she was leaving UCA, and I prepared some toasts for my breakfast... it ended when the firemen came because of the alarm which was on... just because my toasts burned... and all people went out of the building and could see when Georgina took her taxi!!),
Violeta Vuka, an albanian friend who is now living in Canada (the one of the picture on your left). Tom Perku, from Albania too . Mama Grace and J. Gichimu. Friederike & Markus+ daughter (all from Germany), Rvd. FrTitus, Jacqeline Abarca from Chile(the girl with long dark hair of the pic on your right), ZOE and her friend from Spain, Jenny who was working there next to David and Jenny from China , Paul & Mary Thomas plus their 3 sons. Helen and Marty Rowe from Australia, Ken Davies, all of them and the ones that their name are not written here, were and are a blessing to me. I stayed at UCA just for 5 months. And I did love it. Now it's quite sad to hear, that UCA will close.
Some people moved to another place in UK, others (as me) went back to their own countries, some who where working there are looking for another job. As the Bible said... everything has its own time... People from
all around the world stayed at UCA, and all of them formed that real family where I was a member one day.

Pachelbel Cannon in D

Amazing music
Do you remember it.. apple?

JERRY & SUE

A tall man with a great heart and his lovely wife were the ones who where looking after me in Cheltenham. I didn't know that this wonderful couple were going to share their time with me.. Two friends who gave me a hand when I needed, they were just there... as if they were my parents. They are my 2nd parents!!

They have a lovely view from their garden.. you can see everything from there.. even you could see the pittville campus, the racecourse. But it's a shame.. they have no pets...

Christmas with them was like a dream, like those christmas stories.. I went carol singing with them.
They had a real fire and a real Christmas tree. (at home in Peru, we only have the fake one)
The meal was so delicious. And Apple and I spent a good time... we played some games, we met Jerry's sister,.-.and had presents too!!!.
I learnt a lot with them... they shared their time and love with me. I won't never forget them.
There's a special space in my heart for them.

Good bye UCA

The time arrived when I needed to move from UCA, Birmingham to Pittville, Cheltenham, GLOS. I don't know how to describe my feelings, coz I knew I was going to leave that place one day... But I didn't realize that I was going to move for ever.. UCA was like a home for me. I met wonderful people there. People from all around the world, like: Finland, Russia, Colombia, Burma, China, Germany, Kenia, Ghana, Australia, Canada, Fiji, Philippines, Korea, India, Chile, Japan, etc... Friends who where so good to me.

Well.. That day arrived... I was expecting to meet a "gentelman" from Bishop's Cleeve. That was the nick name I had for the person who was going to pick me up from UCA and take me in his car to Cheltenham. Who was that person?... I didn' know until I meet him.

Everything was so fast. I needed to take all my things out from my room NÂș 14. That day was a meeting with all the scholarship holders of the Methodist Church, so UCA was quite busy. My friends where attending that meeting. Some of my friends wheren't there, because they left UCA before me and returned to their country.... some of them where moved to another place in England too. My best friend of Myanmar, MYO... cried. When I said goodbye to him, he cried and huged me. Myo, an excellent brother to me...

The "Gentelman" arrived. Jenny and Ruth Padley called me and said "Heidy, a tall gentelman has arrived in his car. .. Please hurry up, he's waiting for you at the lounge". So with some friends at the front door with all my luggage there.. I ran through the corridor and gave a big hello to this man. I remember I raised my hands and said: Hi!!!. -He was quite surprise.. I think he wasn't expecting me to run like that just to meet him. It seems I was happy to meet him... and I was indeed.

I don't remember if someone mentioned his name...
Jerry Barr, nice to meet you (he said)
Heidy Hollemweguer... nice to meet you too.

Since then... Jerry and his wife
(Sue) where looking after me as if I where their daughter.
And I felt like
that. They where like my parents to me.
They are such
a wonderful people to me.

I really thanks God, to gave me the opportunity to meet them in England. Hope to see them in Peru one day.

I didn't know

I remember, it was early in the morning... (well not so early) and I went out of my room and went downstairs. On my hands I was holding a kind of calender I made myself.
I think that that piece of work took me weeks to finish... actually it was only one night to watercolour it, but the drawings... took me weeks to do it... and I wanted to show the calendar to someone else, coz that day I was going to hand in to my English Tutor at Elmfield House (I was going to sell it, my tutor asked me to prepare one calendar for her)... and as it was to supposed... I won't see the original work again. I worked overnight just to finish that piece of work, I was really tired. sleepy.
So, I went downstairs and I found Pete there. And I said: "Look.. Pete!" "Look!!". Pete took my work on his hands and said: "Wow Heidy!!!, this is nice!!, did you create it?" -"YES" (I said). "Heidy, this is a Gift" (He said).-- No, it's for sale!" (I replied)
